Information on getting to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe

Current road closure
The Silvretta High Alpine Road is closed to public traffic on the Vorarlberg side between Partenen and the Bielerhöhe, expected to remain closed until summer 2030. The reason for this long-term closure is extensive renovation and rockfall protection work following severe storms.
Access to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe from the Tyrolean side via the Paznaun Valley remains unrestricted during the summer season.

Accessibility despite the road closure
Despite the road closure on the Vorarlberg side, the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe remains accessible. A proven alternative transport concept is available for pedestrians and hikers. For guests arriving by car or motorcycle, there is a long detour route via Tyrol.

Getting there via the Vorarlberg side (pedestrians & hikers)

Vermuntbahn
The ascent starts in Partenen with the Vermuntbahn cable car. The cable car climbs around 700 metres in altitude and takes you comfortably to the mountain station.

Tunnel bus (tunnel taxi)
At the mountain station of the Vermuntbahn, you transfer directly to the yellow tunnel bus. This travels through the weather-independent tunnel and takes you directly to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe at Lake Silvretta.

Parking
The car park at the valley station of the Vermuntbahn is currently closed due to construction work.
Please use the car park at the opposite Tafamuntbahn instead.

Public transport
During the summer season, bus route 650 (Landbus) runs on a limited schedule between Schruns train station and the Partenen Loch stop.
In addition, a shuttle service connects Partenen with the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe.
